School Commitment

National College of Ireland (NCI) has developed Data Bytes, a Transition Year programme that helps students understand Data Science, starting with the basics.

A series of interactive online resources and live online and face-to-face workshops will run from September 2022 to November 2022.

To get involved you will need:

A Champion
To take part in Data Bytes, schools will need to allocate a Champion, i.e. a teacher who would like to run the programme during their class-time. This can be any interested teacher but may appeal particularly to TY Science, Maths or Computer teachers.
A Team
Students can enter in teams of four or five and schools can have as many teams enter as they wish.
A Computer
There is no fee to take part in Data Bytes, however students will need access to a laptop or PC and Wi-Fi.
Class-Time
The weekly class-time commitment is 1 - 1.5 hours. Teams may also need to work on their projects outside the allocated class-time.
